The Grand Hotel is one of the UK’s most magnificent Victorian hotels. Situated on the seafront at Eastbourne, it dominates the shoreline and enjoys a stunning outlook over the sea and the cliffs at Beachy Head.

Built in 1875, it has welcomed many of the great and the good over the years including Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin and Elgar.

Directions by Air

London Gatwick Airport
London Gatwick Airport is situated 40 miles from Eastbourne.

By Road:
The journey time is just 50 minutes following the M23 / A23 towards Brighton and then the A27 Brighton to Eastbourne road.

By Rail:
By direct rail link from the airport to Eastbourne Station, the regular service takes 50 minutes.

Directions by Road

The Grand is 47 miles from the M25, and there are two possible routes:

Route A

  • Follow signs on the M25 for M23 (Gatwick Airport / Brighton)
  • Take the M23 / A23 towards Brighton
  • Then take the A27 Polegate along the bypass, at the roundabout follow directions to Eastbourne A22
  • At Lottbridge roundabout follow signs to Seafront
  • Turn right towards the western end of the sea front
  • The Grand is situated opposite the Western Lawns
Route B
  • Take Junction 6 (Godstone) from the M25
  • Then take the A22 which leads directly to Eastbourne
  • Follow signs to the Seafront (West)
  • Turn right towards the western end of the front
  • The Grand is situated opposite the Western Lawns
